Jumping Training

Alejandra Ortiz of PAN, deep in thought before entering the arena.
Today each horse and rider combination competing in the Youth Olympics, was allowed time to jump in the competition arena, over Olympic standard jumps, on their own.  A draw was done and each competitor was allocated 90 seconds in the arena and they were able to jump a suggested course or free jump.

As is usual in Singapore dark clouds were looming, however, all riders managed to get in their warm up and allocated 90 seconds in the arena, before the heavens opened.  Considering this was only the third time these riders had ridden the horses, overall everyone did a great job and there were plenty of smiles.  Carian Scudamore of Great Britain, who is riding Mighty McGyver, commented that today she just wanted to show him everything in the arena and not protect him and she was happy with how he went.

More training sessions are being held tomorrow before the teams competition starts at 9.30am on Wednesday, 18 August. Stay tuned!
